The Saginaw Bay Community Sailing Association has received a grant in the amount of $2,600 from the
Consumers Energy Foundation, One Energy Plaza, Jackson, MI.. The purpose of the grant is to help fund an SBCSA project to replace the old, two-cycle outboard motors on our two coaching/safety powerboats with new and more reliable, energy efficient and environmentally friendly, four-cycle outboard motors. This grant will enable the SBCSA to purchase a new outboard motor for the Boston Whaler powerboat used as a coaching/safety boat during our sailing programs. While the SBCSA’s main focus is teaching sailing to youth and adults, we also must consider the safety of our students and instructors. Reliable motors for our coaching/safety powerboats are a necessity especially when a student needs immediate coaching or assistance. Now our instructors and assistants can completely focus on teaching sailing rather than being distracted by an stubborn outboard. |
