The Depot originally opened in March 1904 during a period of expansion for the Pere Marquette Railroad Company, the largest railroad in Michigan at the time. The Depot was listed on the National Register of Historic Structures in 1982. A $6.2 million restoration project was started in 2007. The magnificent building, a stunning example of prairie architecture, reopened in June 2008 and is an attraction for railroad aficionados and fans of historic architecture.
During the restoration, the depot's original two story waiting room was recreated, complete with a ticket office. During the day, this space houses the Welcome Center for the Bay City Convention and Visitors Bureau. For our event, the waiting room will provide ample space for the Wine Tasting and allow guests to mingle while sampling the wines, enjoying the live music, and savoring our selection of hors d'oeuvres.
The Pere Marquette Depot is located in downtown Bay City at 1000 Adams Street, where Fourth Street ends.
